2017 Lunch & Learn Speaker Series

Our Lunch & Learn series is just what it says — a chance for participants to eat lunch while learning something about Tennessee history at the same time. Whether you bring your lunch in a brown bag or grab a sandwich from a nearby shop, bring it to the museum and enjoy an interesting talk while you eat. The event will last about 30 minutes.

All of the programs are FREE to the public and will take place on Level B of the State Museum in front of the stage.

Preserving the Past for the Future: The Momentous Conservation Project for the New Tennessee State Museum
With Mark Bynon, owner and CEO of Bynon Art Services

There are more than 150,000 artifacts in the museum’s collection that assist our historians in telling the story of our state.  A number of those objects will be on view in the new State Museum. Prior to moving into the exhibition space, many of the artifacts require the care of an expert. Join conservator Mark Bynon as he explains the procedures involved in caring for some of the most precious pieces of our history.
