Venue Rental
Special Events Overview
While renting our venue is not our major purpose, the Tennessee State Museum allows events to be hosted after-hours in order to make its presence and exhibitions more widely available to an audience which might not otherwise be served. All events must be fully hosted. However, no event ticketing or cash bars are permitted. No exchange of monies or solicitations of any sort may occur on either the State Museum premises or on State property.
Clients must pay for the costs of all museum security and housekeeping personnel associated with having the museum open for an event. Additionally, a donation to the Museum’s Foundation is requested when it makes its exhibit space available after hours.
All events must occur after the normal museum operating hours if the client wishes their event to be exclusive. Events occur in either the first (upper) or second (lower) lobby areas.
Associated staffing charges for an event will be included in the event information packet.
When proposed events conflict with museum programs and activities, priority will be given to museum programs. Museum installations may not be altered or removed for events. This includes any temporary exhibitions.
The Museum maintains a list of approved caterers, which have proven their ability to meet the Museum’s performance requirements. The most updated caterer list is included here. If you wish to use a caterer not currently on the approved list, the procedures for hiring caterers are outlined in brief on pages 8 and 9.
