Venue Rental

Special Events Overview

While the Tennessee State Museum is not a typical rental facility, it allows events to be hosted after-hours in order to make its presence and exhibitions more widely available to audiences which might not otherwise be served. In keeping with state regulations, no exchange of monies or solicitations of any sort may occur on State property; subsequently, neither event ticketing nor cash bars are permitted on the Tennessee State Museum property.

All events must occur after the normal museum operating hours if the client wishes the event to be exclusive. Events may be held on either the first (upper) or second (lower) lobby areas.

Client costs are based on four-hour minimum fees and include the following:

Museum Security Supervisor (state supplier) with at least two security guards.
     Housekeeping personnel (state supplier).
Museum staff members:TSM Event Coordinator and TSM Event Technician required.
A requested donation to the Tennessee State Museum Foundation.

When proposed events conflict with museum programs and activities, priority is, of course, given to museum programs. Museum installations may not be altered or removed for events; this includes any temporary exhibitions.

The Museum maintains a list of approved caterers, which have proven their ability to meet the Museum’s performance requirements. If you wish to use a caterer not currently on the approved list, the procedures for hiring other caterers are outlined.
