Visiting the State Capitol

Your class is invited to take a guided tour of the historic Tennessee State Capitol. One of the oldest working capitols in the nation, this Greek Revival style building contains a great deal of history within its limestone walls. Staff will guide you through its historic halls and chambers to view the governor's reception room, bullet-scarred stair rail, House of Representatives, Senate, and old State Library.

Groups may be unable to view all rooms at the Capitol as it is a working building and subject to use by legislators and/or groups for meetings, ceremonies, and session.

Guided tours are available Monday through Friday on the hour, beginning at 9 a.m., with the last tour at 3 p.m.  The tours take 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the group.
