The Tennessee State Museum holds more than 150,000 artifacts that make wonderful primary sources to help you teach history in a deeper and more meaningful way. We’ve invited some of the state’s best experts on Tennessee history to support you with curriculum development.

Join us for a one day workshop session geared specifically to your standards and what you have to teach. Scholars and curriculum instructors will be on hand to help you better understand and teach these new standards in innovative and engaging ways!

Day includes:

•  Some of the best primary sources Tennessee has to offer for use in your classroom
•  Exciting new programs and offerings from TSM education team
•  Content instruction by renowned Tennessee historian and author Dr. Carole Bucy

Featuring noted scholars and educators

Dr. Carole Bucy
Author of the two volume textbook series Tennessee Through Time, The Early Years and The Later Years professor of history at Volunteer State Community College, and the Davidson County Historianc, Carole considers herself a teacher first.  She has also served as Project Director of TEACH (Tennessee Educators Active Colloquia in History), funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Teaching American History program from 2003-2009.

David Rector
Social Studies curriculum specialist for Williamson County Schools, former classroom teacher, and member of Social Studies Leadership Council that revised Tennessee Curriculum Standards adopted in 2014.
