Project Updates

Pardon the Construction!

The Polk Building, which houses the Tennessee State Museum, is undergoing some outside construction. During this time there will be some scaffolding on Deaderick Street. You can enter the Tennessee State Museum from an opening in the scaffolding which leads into the main lobby of the building.  This entrance is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. (The museum is closed on Mondays.)

Or, you can enter at the 5th Avenue entrance between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, by walking down the steps to the double doors. These doors are closed on the weekend.

Parking

There is no private parking for the museum. During the week, visitors must park in paid lots or at street parking meters. On weekends, visitors may park free in the state employee parking lots around the State Capitol.

All street metered spaces are free to the public Monday-Friday after 6 p.m. and Saturday after 12 p.m. and all day Sunday. (Note: some meters may have reserved jackets and are closed to public use during these times.)
